A record of how abstract thought defies gravity to become the stage of life

RESTAURANT IN ALICANTE

Typology:

Fit-out of a commercial unit for a restaurant, Alicante, Spain

Area:

205 m²

Location:

Alicante, Spain

Status:

Completed (2016)

Budget:

€80,000 (PEM – Total Construction Budget)

Context:

The project consists of transforming an emblematic commercial unit in Alicante, dedicated for decades to selling women’s lingerie, into a new restaurant space. The intervention is based on a respectful reading of the property, identifying elements of architectural value capable of preserving the memory of the place and reinforcing its identity.

Solution:

The proposal recovers and highlights original elements such as moldings, balusters and, especially, a wooden floor that had remained hidden under successive layers of finishes and, once restored, becomes one of the project’s main protagonists. The intervention combines these pre-existing elements with industrial-character materials, sober-finish marble and traditional coverings, seeking a balance between the authenticity of the building and a contemporary language. The result is a restaurant with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where the recovery of existing elements, the honesty of the materials and a careful selection of finishes build a space with personality, capable of reinterpreting the character of the place from a present-day perspective.

Architecture has always been a reflection of its time; our responsibility is to imagine, design and build the next one.

We believe in an architecture capable of anticipating new ways of living, investing and building, developing projects that go beyond the present to meet the needs of the future.
