Context:
Construction of a new residential building in Alicante’s Old Town, in the area of Calle Villavieja. The project integrates contemporary architecture into a setting of high heritage value, preserving the historic ground-floor façade and reinforcing the urban character of the ensemble.
Solution:
The project develops six apartment units, including two duplexes with terraces and views over the sea and the Old Town. The design combines two architectural languages: a traditional-style façade facing Calle Villavieja and a rationalist-expression façade facing the MACA museum, both unified through the use of materials typical of Mediterranean architecture together with steel and glass.
Inside, masonry, brick and wood engage in dialogue with concrete and steel, creating contemporary spaces that reinterpret the site’s constructive identity and establish a balanced relationship between the existing architecture and the new intervention.
